The neighbors came and asked for work. There was nothing to eat.

These are the very same neighbors who reported me to every authority. What’s wrong with you, people? I collected a pack of every grain, poured out a jar of butter, and filled a bag of potatoes. But I never heard “sorry”…

Honestly, I don’t need it anymore. Six months ago, I would have been happy about it. Now I don’t need it anymore. Now I’m glad I was able to help. Yes, it’s really hard now. I hoarded all our winter supplies so we wouldn’t go hungry. I worked all summer to have something to eat this winter. And meanwhile, they were writing “letters of happiness” to everyone they could.

It’s silly to explain that these dogs aren’t to blame for being born and have nowhere to go. It’s silly to write that you’re essentially eating their bread. I just want to say that if you don’t love them, or even fear them, just pass them by. Don’t harm them. Don’t think badly, much less act badly.

Those who were driven out by you from everywhere extended a helping hand to you, and again gave you their crust of bread…
