Empowering Communities to Lead Animal Welfare in Crisis: Meet Gregg Tully.

Gregg Tully is a global strategy consultant supporting animal protection organizations in tackling some of their biggest challenges, from crafting strategic plans and strengthening boards, to designing sanctuaries and building effective leadership teams.

His current work in Ukraine, through «Wildlife & Welfare» brings these skills into sharp focus in a time of extraordinary need.

At next week’s #ICAMConference2025 Gregg will present “The essential role of Ukrainian communities in dog and cat population management.” His session highlights how – in the face of war and limited access for international disaster response teams – Ukrainian community members have stepped up as the backbone of a grassroots sterilization and care network.

These unpaid volunteers not only feed and monitor roaming animals, but also help build trust with them, arrange vet appointments, and care for them after surgery.

Gregg’s inspiration to work in dog and cat population management began while travelling in countries where roaming dog populations were widespread. “I realized that helping animals one by one wasn’t enough: I needed to be part of a bigger, more sustainable solution.”

Outside of his consultancy work, Gregg loves travelling – especially when the journey takes him off the beaten path. His advice for others in the field? “Volunteer if you can, go where your skills are most needed, and don’t wait for opportunities: create them.”
