help us!

The online-edition odessa.online published an article dedicated to the “My Living Dogs” Support Center and its activities – «Life in spite of: how dogs and cats survive at the “resorts” of the Odessa region», with a photo report.
Last summer they already communicated with us, then we were talking about the shepherd dog Bagira, who was rescued from flooded Kherson.
This article talks about our ongoing work related to the care of animals in many locations in the Odessa region.
As the publication notes, “…Dozens, maybe hundreds of destroyed houses, villages almost without people, complete desolation and traces of arrivals. Most people left here, but the dogs and cats remained. Some abandoned their pets; others ran away from their owners from the sounds of explosions. How this happened is not so important yet. It is important that without human help they can die. These animals are not adapted to “wild life in nature.”
Lyudmila Melnikova has been coming here for many months, bringing food and medicine for the animals. We were here with her in August last year and we came again now. Unfortunately, six months later the situation changed for the worse. There are no fewer cats and dogs, but donor support for the foster care center has decreased. “We had to switch to porridge at the shelter in order to have at least some opportunity to feed other dogs”, said Lyudmila”
Also, our wonderful volunteers and those who help animals in this difficult time could not be ignored in the article: “…a wonderful girl Zina, who takes care of abandoned animals in one of the seaside villages. She not only feeds them, but also built real two-room dog houses and insulated them herself. She also helps Lyudmila Melnikova and veterinarians when dogs are sterilized and vaccinated. And in another village, old woman Natasha lives in one of the houses, and she feeds dozens of cats at home. Despite the “loud” life in the area, she is not going to leave her home and her pets”…
At the end of the article, online-edition joins the call for help, since “…even small help means saved lives of animals that are forced to survive in extremely difficult conditions.”
