Three butterflies flew up to a burning candle and began to discuss the nature of fire. One, flying up to the flame, returned and said,
“Fire glows!”
Another flew closer and singed its wing. Returning, it said,
“It burns!”
The third, having flown very close, disappeared in the flames and never returned. She had learned what she wanted to know, but was no longer able to impart it to those who remained.
Those who receive knowledge are deprived of the ability to speak of it, so the one who knows remains silent, and the one who speaks does not know what he speaks of.
