From May 12, 2025, pet registration begins in Ukraine.

As noted in the Kyiv City State Administration with reference to the “Kyiv City Hospital of Veterinary Medicine”, the city’s ASСs will have the opportunity to officially register pets. The service will start operating:

• from Monday, May 12, 2025;
• in all ASC units in Kyiv.

The head of the company, Serhiy Saburov, noted that currently mandatory registration only applies to dogs. However, cats can be entered into the register at the owner’s request.

He also added that this is primarily a safety issue, if an animal gets lost, having registration data makes it much easier to return it home. In addition, accurate data on the number of pets will allow:

• better organize urban infrastructure;
• ensure compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements.

How to register an animal and how much it costs:

Starting from May 12, 2025, to enter an animal into the register, the owner must:

• contact any Kyiv ASC;
• fill out Form No. 1 (obtained on site);
• provide a receipt for payment of the relevant service.

The ASC website states that the service is provided within 15 days and that the fee for one animal is 210 hryvnias. After registration, the animal is assigned an individual number, and the owner is issued an official certificate confirming ownership of the pet.
